A pleasure passenger vehicle cant be used for any business purposes. It can only be driven to or from--or part way to or from--work or school up to 4 days in one month, and not more than 1,609 km (1,000 miles) to or from work or school during a rating term. It can be used to drive dependants to and from school, without limits. Students cant drive a vehicle to school regularly on pleasure use.
A common carrier passenger vehicle (local) is used by a courier or common carrier within a city or municipality, or for any other delivery purposes in connection with a
business, trade or occupation, more than four days in one month or more than 1,609 km (1,000 miles) during a registration period.

If you rely on your vehicle daily, loss of use coverage will provide you coverage for the cost of replacement transportation if the vehicle is stolen or involved in an accident, regardless of fault.
When renting or borrowing a auto, light truck, passenger van, motorcycle, moped and SUV vehicle you can purchase a policy through Manitoba Public Insurance. This will provide you with better coverage at a lower cost than most rental companies. This policy doesn t provide coverage for rented off-road vehicles, motorhomes, heavy trucks, buses or if you are using the vehicle for business deliveries.
How you use your vehicle affects your likelihood of having a claim. Therefore there are different insurance uses which will affect your premium. For example, a person that uses there vehicle once a week to go to the grocery store is less likely to have a claim than a person that is using the vehicle daily as a courier.
Auto protection Purchasing a new vehicle can be a costly venture. To protect the value of your vehicle you can purchase this optional coverage. Most privately owned, new and late-model cars, SUVs, light trucks, motorcycles, mopeds and motorhomes qualify. The vehicle must be either brand new or, if used, no older than one model year old.

If you have two or more vehicles that you use for work, school or business, and only one of them is used for work, school or business at one time or on the same day; you can save money by insuring the higher rated one all purpose use and the other with pleasure use. As long as the vehicles are cars, passenger vans or SUV’s registered by you or your spouse living at the same address.
Lay up coverage If you are not using your vehicle for an extended period of time you could look on changing your vehicle to lay-up coverage. Lay-up provides for losses such as fire, theft and vandalism, hail and lightning excluding road use. There is no coverage for collision damage, claims others make against you, vehicles stored outside Manitoba or vehicles stored on public roadways.
